How Your Donations are Put to Use

Two of our largest and most impactful programs are See by Three™ and the Parks Records Initiative.

  • See by Three

We believe that effective amblyopia screening can be performed in a physician's office. See by Three seeks to increase the number of vision screenings performed nationwide through education and replication of models.

    Program Facts:

    • Almost 10,000 children have been screened in two states
    • Over 200 physicians were trained to screen children
    • Almost 40 percent of the physicians in West Virginia were trained

With the first phase of the program complete, the next steps involve publishing research papers to the medical community. The resulting studies will provide the content for public awareness campaigns, to be distributed nationwide to parents and health care providers.

  • Strabismus Institute: Parks Records

Dr. Marshall Parks, the recognized founder of pediatric ophthalmology, was a meticulous visionary. For more than 50 years he saw patients and kept their treatment records on 5"x7" note cards. What resulted, after he retired from pediatric ophthalmology, was the most comprehensive repository of information related to eye disorders in children.

This project consists of digitizing his records and organizing them in a manner that allows them to be used in research projects. This proprietary database will be the most comprehensive repository of information ever assembled.
