Ambassadors

Program Overview

The Children's Eye Foundation recognizes that pediatric opthalmology positively impacts the lives of many children and parents. The Ambassadors Program was developed to provide an opportunity for those parents and children to show their gratitude and help raise awareness about the need for early detection and treatment of eye disorders in children. We have divided the program into our Board of Ambassadors for parents interested in sharing their message and our little ambassadors for children.

If you are interested in learning more, or participating in either of these programs, please complete this form and you will be contacted for more information.

Board of Ambassadors

If your child has had an experience with an eye disorder such as amblyopia or strabismus, you know how frightening it is. What is more frightening is that most children don't have the opportunity to fight for their sight because they don't receive an eye screening. Only one in three children receives an eye screening before the age of five.
What does an Ambassador do?

  • Advocacy - if you are a parent, you most likely have friends that are parents. Do your friends a favor and make them aware of amblyopia and strabismus by sending them to our Web site. Armed with facts about amblyopia and strabismus, they can be sure the next trip to the pediatrician includes an eye screening.
    • Kelly Warnick, one of the first members of the Board of Ambassadors, shares her insight for parents who's children face strabismus surgery. View the video.
  • Operational Support - in addition to acting as an advocate for the Children's Eye Foundation, our Board of Ambassadors also makes us aware of events to further  our mission of eliminating preventable blindness in children.
    • The Board Of Ambassadors' latest effort took place at the 2008 Valero Texas Open through a program called Birdies for Charity.

little ambassadors

The Foundation's little ambassadors program includes young children that have been spared a life of preventable blindness thanks to the work done by the Children's Eye Foundation and the physicians who support it. It is our children's right to possess and enjoy the gift of sight, and it is our responsibility to ensure their eyes stay healthy.
