David K. Wallace, MD, MPH, is the Marilyn K. Glick Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and he serves as Director of the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute. A native of South Bend, Indiana, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University and completed his Ophthalmology Residency as Chief Resident at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He obtained a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina. After 10 years on the faculty at UNC, including 6 years as residency program director, he joined the Duke University Department of Ophthalmology in 2005. At Duke, he was Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics, Vice-Chair for Clinical Strategic Planning, and Director of Clinical Research. He has served as Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and as President of the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Wallace's primary research interests are retinopathy of prematurity, amblyopia, and clinical trials in pediatric ophthalmology. He served a 5-year term as chair of an NIH-funded research network, the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG). He is protocol chair for PEDIG studies investigating very low-dose intravitreous bevacizumab for retinopathy of prematurity.
