Dr. Jane Edmond is the Inaugural Chair and Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology, Dell Medical School, The University of Texas at Austin, and the Director of the Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute, which will open Fall 2020 on campus.
Her undergraduate degree is from The University of Texas at Austin. She went to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, for her medical degree. After her Ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, she completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Fellowship with the University of Iowa in 1990, and in 2007 she completed a Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Edmond's focus is pediatric neuro-ophthalmology, adult and pediatric strabismus, and craniofacial disorders. She has taught over 250 residents and over 50 fellows during her academic career.
Dr. Edmond has served in many professional roles, most recently as the President of AAPOS, 2019-2020. She has also served as a Trustee at Large for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
